Why is the BBC 's existence protected by law?

I'd regret the ping of the BBC. The likes of Sky are full of lies and controlled by very wicked people indeed. The same people control the right-wing newspapers that campaign for the BBC to be destroyed. These are enemies of democracy and no-one seems to notice. I haven't noticed the BBC campaigning for the end of News International even though that would be a good thing for humanity.
