How to make cheesy slow cooker (crock pot) chicken BUT no cheddar cheese soup available?

I see so many recipes for cheesy chicken in the slow cooker but they all call for cream of cheddar cheese soup. i can't get that where i live, if i just add shredded cheddar cheese will that work?
